Dundee United FC Personalised Football Calendar
Terrific Gift For Fans Of The Terrors!
Dundee United FC is one of the most successful Scottish football clubs after the Old Firm, having won every domestic honour and also gained fame on the continent with some incredible runs in the European cup competitions. In 1966, entertaining matches against Barcelona and Juventus, during the club's first ever European campaign, certainly captured the imagination of those watching. Dundee United were soon invited to play in the North American Soccer League as the Dallas Tornados and after playing in America for two summers, the Terrors changed their regular United strip to the now famous bright tangerine colour, to match the Dallas kit the team had played in.
Our fantastic Personalised Dundee United Calendars are a unique gift idea that features twelve special match reports from our newspaper archives. Written by respected journalists who were there at the time, these articles include league success and European victories, ensuring each month brings back a fabulous memory from the Terrors' history.
Calendar Highlights
These special A3 Calendars begin in 1966, when Dundee United manager Jerry Kerr guided the Terrors into Europe for the very first time. Playing entertaining football, United became the first Scottish club to win in Spain, beating FC Barcelona 1-2 at the Nou Camp.
Success in Europe would continue for the Terrors in the hugely triumphant 1980s, and our Personalised Dundee United Calendars feature a selection of match reports on the club's famous European cup runs. In 1984, United beat Vienna Rapid 1-0 to reach the semi-final of the European Cup. Here they would face Roma and in the first leg, the Terrors raced to an incredible 2-0 home victory. Although the team would go on to lose on aggregate after the return fixture, Dundee United were back in Europe again in the 1986/1987 season, this time in the UEFA Cup. In March, the Terrors again beat Barcelona away, and during April, the club won their semi-final against Borussia Monchengladbach to become the first Scottish side to reach the UEFA Cup final.
In addition to these terrific European matches, the Dundee United Football Calendar also incorporates domestic success from the 1980s and beyond. In 1983, the Terrors became Scottish League Champions after beating local rivals Dundee 1-2 at Dens Park. Another notable derby win took place in 1988, when Dundee United again played away, and thrashed Dundee FC 3-0. In 1994, United beat Rangers 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Final to complete the clubs' set of domestic honours.
